Researchers in France have, for the first time, succeeded in creating large scale assemblages made up of thousands of nano-machines, which are capable of producing coordinated contraction movement. The machines mimic cells in human muscle, which each contract a tiny amount – just a few micrometers – but which are able to work together in a highly coordinated way to create the larger muscular movements which control the human body.
